Nimbus Spotlight; Life at Nimbus with Ian Moores

My name is Ian Moores and I am a Principal Azure Architect at Nimbus.

Before joining Nimbus in January 2023, I was with a London-based consultancy and I previously worked at Fujitsu, in both positions I led several large scale Cloud Migrations for clients such as HMRC, Gov of Jersey, AXA and others.

I have worked within Azure since it was known as Project RedDog inside Microsoft and before that I was developing commercial .NET applications while it was still in Beta Release and stayed at the cutting edge of Technology for most of my career.

Initially it was the role that attracted me to Nimbus, with my recent move to Chippenham i was looking for a new role close to home where I could finally stop commuting every day. However, in the interview process it was clear that there were other clients of Nimbus that I would also like to work with again and so was sold on both the role and company.

I really enjoy working for a smaller company where you feel a part of their success, having the opportunity to chat freely with the CEO of the company is something that has been missing from my more recent roles.

The recent social event was genuinely great fun and thoroughly worth the trip up there, I am normally one to avoid such occasions but was glad I went and will definitely be going again! I felt the event really contributed to the positive work environment that Nimbus has created in its employees.

The role has been an interesting one for me as although my deep Azure knowledge is occasionally touched on, it is very much a customer facing role where my tasks are not necessarily something I already know how to do and so I have enjoyed rolling my sleeves up and getting stuck into something new (Jira Service Management in the most recent case).
