My name is Josh Netton and I am an Azure Cloud Engineer here at Nimbus.
Before joining Nimbus in January 2023, I worked as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer across a number of defence contracts within Fujitsu and Sopra Steria, specialising in on-premise Windows Server and VMware deployments. I have also worked as a Systems Engineer at IBM, supporting the development of their internal RHEL and AIX security systems.
Despite working with on-premise infrastructure across my 10 year career, my interest soon changed to Cloud and DevOps. During the first lockdown of Covid, I had more time at home to focus on my own personal development. I took an interest to Azure and started getting myself knowledgeable with training and certifications.
An opportunity came up for an Azure Cloud Engineer at Nimbus, and from the first moment I met the team I knew that I wanted to be a part of their journey. They are a smaller company than some of the other service providers I’ve worked with before, but they are definitely setting the stage and making themselves a real competitor in the market.
What I enjoy most about working for Nimbus is that you get a real sense of a family-style atmosphere here, feeling like an equal with everyone else and being a part of the companies success. It feels like the work that I do really makes a difference, and you aren’t just another number. The work-life balance that Nimbus offers has allowed me to continue developing my career while also supporting my young family as a new father.
My role here has allowed me to pursue my passion of working in the cloud and developing my skills to become a proficient DevOps engineer, working hands-on with technologies such as GitLab and Terraform. Nimbus also invest in your personal development, whether it’s a particular course or exam, they will support you. I’m happy that I have an employer that show’s an interest in my training, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the future takes me.
